Waitlist Terms
Last updated September 13, 2026
The two things that matter most.
Saving a card holds a place in line. It is not a booking, and it does not commit either of us to anything. We may never operate where you live.
We will not charge that card unless you have separately signed a rental agreement and agreed to a start date for a specific car. Not a deposit, not a hold, not a fee. Nothing.
1. What you are signing up for
Shift is operated by Scripty Solutions LLC("we", "us", "our"). These terms are an agreement between you and us, and they apply when you submit the Shift form and save a card.
What you are joining is a waitlist for a pilot. We are trying to find out whether there is enough demand to put cars in a given city, and where. Your signup is information we use to make that decision, and an expression of interest we can come back to if the answer is yes.
2. This is not a rental agreement
Nothing on the Shift site is an offer to rent you a vehicle, a reservation, or a promise that a vehicle will be available to you at any time, in any place, or at any price.
If and when a car becomes available near you and you want it, you will be asked to enter a separate written rental agreement before you take possession of anything. That agreement is what will cover insurance, eligibility, mileage, fuel or charging, damage, permitted and prohibited uses, what happens in an accident, and everything else about actually driving the car. None of that is covered here, and none of it has been agreed by either of us yet.
The 42 dollar daily rate shown on the site is our current intended price. It is indicative. It is not a quote, and it is not locked in by joining the waitlist.
3. Who can join
To join the waitlist you must:
- be at least 18 years old;
- live in the United States;
- hold an active account with at least one delivery or rideshare platform, because Shift is only for courier work.
Renting a car later will have stricter requirements, including a valid driver's license, a minimum age set by our insurer, and a driving record that passes a check. Meeting the waitlist requirements does not mean you will meet those, and we are not able to tell you in advance whether you will.
4. Your card
The card step is handled by Stripe on Stripe's own pages. We never see or store your card number. We receive the brand, the last four digits, and whether it is credit, debit or prepaid.
Stripe authorizes the card to confirm it is valid and saves it for future use. No amount is charged and no funds are held. Your bank may briefly show a $0.00 or $1.00 authorization line, which clears by itself. That is the card being checked, not a payment.
We ask for a card because a waitlist that costs nothing to join tells us nothing about whether anybody would actually pay. It is the only way to separate real interest from curiosity, and it is why we are able to make a decision about where to operate at all.
5. When we could charge you
We will not charge the card on file for any amount unless all of the following have happened first:
- a vehicle is actually available to you;
- you have entered a separate written rental agreement with us; and
- you have agreed to a specific start date under that agreement.
Until then there is no deposit, no reservation fee, no subscription, no membership charge, and no automatic renewal of anything. If you never rent a car, you are never billed.
6. Accurate information
Please give us information that is true, particularly your ZIP code and the apps you drive for. We are using it to decide where to spend money on vehicles. Submitting deliberately false information, or submitting the form repeatedly with different details, may mean we remove your entry.
7. Emails and texts
By joining the waitlist you agree that we may email you about Shift: your place in line, availability near you, and the status of the pilot.
If you give us a phone number, you agree that we may call or send you text messages about your waitlist entry and about vehicle availability, including messages sent using an automatic telephone dialling system. Giving us a number is optional, and it is not a condition of joining the waitlist or of renting a vehicle. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies and will be low. Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving them, or HELP for help.
You can opt out of email at any time using the unsubscribe link or by emailing us. Opting out of marketing does not remove your waitlist entry; to do that, see section 8.
8. Leaving the waitlist
Email customersupport@scriptypointer.com from the address you signed up with and say you want out. We delete your entry and the saved card, including the customer record at Stripe. No reason needed and nothing to argue about.
We may also remove your entry ourselves, for the reasons in section 6 or if we discontinue Shift. Either way the card is deleted with it. See the Privacy Notice for what happens to your information.
9. No guarantees
The Shift site and the waitlist are provided as is. We do not promise that the site will be uninterrupted or error free, that we will launch anywhere in particular, that we will launch at all, or that a vehicle will be available to you.
Joining the waitlist earlier does not guarantee priority, although we do work through areas by demand and we do contact people in an area before we contact anyone outside it.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost income, lost earnings or lost business opportunity, arising from the waitlist, from our not launching in your area, or from your reliance on Shift becoming available.
Because the waitlist is free and no money changes hands, our total liability to you in connection with it is limited to one hundred US dollars.
Some states do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
This section is about the waitlist only. Liability arising from an actual rental will be governed by the rental agreement.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute between you and us arising out of these terms or the waitlist will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. When we do we will change the date at the top, and if a change materially affects your rights we will email you rather than relying on you to re-read the page. Changes apply going forward.
